CHASSEPOT, GRAS, LEBEL AND BERTHIER RIFLES. No.1: Model 1892 Berthier Bayonet. Scarce bayonet has a 15 3/4" fullered blade. The fuller extends nearly through the tip. Grooved on the top forward end. Blade also has retaining notches forward of the crossguard. Crossguard is the second pattern w/ the rear wood extending muzzle ring. Smooth walnut grips retained by two rivets. Blued steel scabbard w/ ball finial. CONDITION: bayonet & scabbard have moderate wear & handling marks, but retains a large degree of original finish. No.2: Three Model 1886 Lebel Bayonets. Quadrangular blades. Two have 20 1/4" blades, one having a 15 3/4" blade. All have curved quillons & silver covered alloy grips. Blued steel scabbards. CONDITION: all in similar worn, but serviceable condition. Scabbards retain a good percentage of original blue finish. No.3: Model 1874 Gras Bayonet. 20 1/2" "T back" blade. Numbers match on scabbard & crossguard. Blade is marked on back in script "ST. STEVEN / MARCH 1878". Curved quillon w/ adjustable muzzle ring. Smooth hardwood grips w/ brass pommel. Blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: bright blade has light staining. Grips are worn w/ small crack on left side. Crossguard turning patina. Pommel is pleasing dark patina. Scabbard retains 70% original blued finish w/ area of oxidation near tip. No.4: Model 1866 Chassepot Bayonet. 18 3/8" fullered blade. Blade is marked on left ricasso "R. KIRSCHBAUM SOLINGEN". Bayonet likely manufactured in Germany for use w/ captured Chassepot rifles. Blade has notably straighter profile than French examples. Curved quillon. Adjustable ring. Grooved brass grip. Blued steel scabbard equipped w/ brown leather period frog. Frog markings on back include "PORTE" in oval & oval cartouche in wreath w/ "EA". CONDITION: worn bayonet & grip have been heavily cleaned over light pitting. Scabbard retains 50% of its blued finish w/ thinning wear & areas of oxidation. Frog is in good serviceable condition w/ tight stitching. No.5: Model 1866 Chassepot Bayonet. 22 1/2" fullered curved blade. Bayonet is unmarked except for French acceptance marks & S# on left side of the curved quillon. Grooved brass handle. Scabbard is not present. Metal has been cleaned over fine pitting. Brass handle returning to its patina'd appearance. No.6: Model 1866 Chassepot Bayonet. 22 5/8" fullered curved blade. Bayonet is unmarked except for French acceptance marks & S# on left side of the curved quillon. Grooved brass handle. Scabbard is not present. Metal has been cleaned over fine pitting. Brass handle returning to its patina'd appearance. No.7: Model 1866 Chassepot Bayonet. 22 3/4" curved fullered blade. Blade is marked on top w/ "TULLE" & "FEBRUARY 1877". Curved quillon w/ adjustable muzzle ring. Ribbed brass handle. Matching blued steel scabbard is present. CONDITION: bright blade turning gray. Handle has pleasing patina. Scabbard w/ light wear & small dents retains most of its original blue finish. (02-24261-6/RW). NON-GUN. $600-800.
