INDIAN MODE TACKED BELT. Of harness leather decorated with two-pronged brass brads arranged in a four-pointed star, a diamond, and concentric circles motifs. Small pouch of commercial tanned leather sewn inside; dbl buckle fastener. Women of the Jicarilla and Ute tribes in particular, and occasionally of some Plains groups, wore exceptionally wide leather belts decorated with brass tacks, studs, or brads. American Indians traditionally employed four-pointed rather than five-pointed star motifs in their arts. Size: 39 long x 6" high.
