Ratna Manikya (1464-1489), Silver Tanka, 10.60g, SE 1386, Bengali legend on both sides, Obv: Lion to left, ''Sri Durga Pada Para Ratnapure Sake 1386'' reads clockwise, facing inward, Rev: ''Sri Sri Ra/tna Mani/kya Deva'' in cusped octagon with uncertain legend around ''Nara Narayana... yaha'' (KM# 15, R&B# 27). Best example known so far, extremely fine, extremely rare.
Ratna Manikya was the youngest son of Dharma Manikya. After the death of Darma Manikya Tripura was divided into Seventeen divisions under the control of Seventeen older sons. Ratna Manikya with the Military help of Bengal Sultan Rukn-al-din Barbak Shah defeated his brothers and installed him as a ruler of whole Tripura. His coins was copied directly from rare coin types of Bengal Sultans Nasir ud din Mahamud Shah III.
