Chapman, S.H. and H. CATALOGUE OF THE MAGNIFICENT COLLECTION OF COINS OF THE UNITED STATES FORMED BY THE LATE HARLAN P. SMITH, ESQ, NEW YORK CITY. Philadelphia: Davis & Harvey, Auctioneers, May 8–11, (1906). 4to, later black cloth, gilt. (6), 138, (14) pages; 2416 lots; 11 of 14 fine photographic plates, most of them cut up with many images missing [see comments]. Prices realized list and errata bound in. Text fine. A badly mutilated copy, with three plates missing (10–12) and all but two of the remaining plates neatly sliced up with many coin images missing. According to a note by Phil Ralls, this copy was owned by Wayte Raymond, who used the cut plates to illustrate coins in the Standard Catalogue. This cannot be verified. Perhaps half of the coin images are lacking in this copy.
