IMPORTANT OHIO GAR QUILT.
Presented to Amanda G. St John, Cardington, Morrow County, 1884, cotton, paint and ink. Pieced in a barred square pattern and hand quilted in double lines. Listing the names, companies and regiments of nearly three hundred Ohio Civil War soldiers. Centrally placed is the name of her son, Captain James St John, and A.H. Brown of the 96th OVI as well as the names of Generals Logan, Garfield and Hayes. 81" x 91".

The Cardington GAR Post #82 was named "James St John".


Condition: Some staining and all over light toning. The backing has white paint spots.The lettering is all by the same hand. The inscriptionon on the reverse is neatly painted in large letters "Thanksgiving, Present / to /Mrs. A.G. St John / 1884 / Cardington, Ohio".
