IMPORTANT AND RARE WISCASSET, MAINE MAHOGANY SECRETARY ATTRIBUTED TO JOSHUA DAMON. The two-part secretary has a top section fitted with two inlaid blind doors, which open to reveal eight cubby’s and one large compartment. The upper section with two glazed doors having molded edge mullion. The crest with curving form having central block inlaid panel with three brass urn finials. The frieze with a decorative light and dark intertwined inlay. The doors have a similar light and dark inlay band. The bottom section has a deep dovetailed fold over writing section, which has two lift top compartments and three drawers. Three graduated drawers below, each fitted with original oval bale brasses decorated in thistle design. The tapered square Mediterranean style foot on all four corners. Originally found in the Wiscassett, Maine area in a nice old finish. SIZE: 86” h x 39” w x 21” at deepest. CONDITION: One side piece of molding missing, otherwise very good. 9-28013
