May 24, 1841-A three-page handwritten letter from Mary Daniels and Samuel (husband?) to father and mother, brothers and sisters in New Hampshire, with printed transcript. In the letter she describes attending a speech by abolitionist Edward Beecher (brother of Harriet Beecher Stowe and Henry Ward Beecher), and remarks about her efforts to raise silk worms. Samuel takes note of the growth of the Mormon Church in Illinois and refers to the death of William Henry Harrison, the “Chief ruler of this Nation….” Also included are notes on Joseph Smith, Jr. , of the Latter Day Saints, and freemasonry in Nauvoo (IL).
