William Waldorf Astor (1848–1919) was an American-born lawyer, politician, businessman, and member of the prominent Astor family. After serving in the New York State Assembly and Senate, he moved to England in the 1890s, where he became a successful newspaper proprietor and real estate magnate. Astor was naturalized as a British subject in 1899, and in 1917 was elevated to the peerage as the 1st Viscount Astor. His wealth and influence bridged the Gilded Age in America and the aristocratic world of Edwardian Britain. POCs and stamp cancelled, VF to VF+ condition. ABNC.
