c1927-This is a classic automatic cashier device, invented by Edward J. Brandt who founded Brandt Mfg Co in Watertown, Wisconsin, and produced in Chicago, Illinois. The purpose of this machine was to eliminate the need for han-counting exact change by providing a range of buttons that could be pressed to automatically deliver correct change. For example, when the 87 key is pressed, the machine delivers the lowest number of coins necessary to give correct change: a half-dollar, a quarter, a dime, and two pennies. This machine is still in fine working order, and shows some wear on the buttons and metal work surface. All four feet are present, and the high-relief embossments on the rear and side panels are in great condition. A nameplate on the reverse of the machine indicates a series of patent numbers and "Brandt Automatic Cashier Company/ Watertown, wisconsin, U. S. A." A serial number on the side of the machine identifies it "R-62-15404". HKA#64676
