ID'D COLT MODEL 1860 ARMY REVOLVER.
.44 caliber, six-shot cylinder with engraved naval scene, three-screw frame, 8" round barrel, walnut grips with cartouche. S/n 125681.

Crudely carved into the grips is "J.P.R. CF 17 PA CAV." for John P. Reily, who mustered into Company F of the 17th Pennsylvania Cavalry in February 1864. The 17th PA Cavalry assisted Sheridan in his raid of Richmond, and then spent time securing the Shenandoah Valley.

Condition: Bore condition good, action a little stiff but relatively smooth, mottled gray-brown patina with light scattered corrosion, marks fairly crisp, cylinder scene quite clean and clear. No s/n on lever. Manufactured 1863. Mr Romanoff's tag indicates that this revolver was acquired from Thomas Goden, RD 3, Box 54, Boswell, PA.

Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid. All transactions are governed by our Conditions of Sale.
