I Married a Monster From Outer Space (Paramount, 1958). Half Sheet (22" X 28"). Fans and critics alike inform newcomers to this film that yes, the film is much better than the title. The exploitative title implies a basic cable movie starring Eric Roberts and Tori Spelling, but actually the film stands out as one of the more intelligent horror outings of the 1950s. Like many new wives, Marge Farrell (Gloria Talbott) notices that her husband (Tom Tryon) has been acting very strangely since their wedding night. He behaves listlessly, as though possessing no emotions whatsoever, a trait that -- if alien -- should arouse the suspicions of many wives during football season. In addition, he spends much of his free time at Grady's Bar... without ever taking a drink. Marge soon discovers that the aliens have arrived to replenish their species, but fortunately, like many men belonging to the wedded and the listless, the aliens prove unable to procreate. Unlike the one sheet, this half sheet shows the bride in full portrait, with the monster's shadow looming over her. The poster has six pinholes, three small tears on the edges and scuffed edges and corners, with wrinkles in the cross-fold. Fine+.
