About 100 stocks issued in the 1930s-40s to Samuel Magnin, one of the four sons of Mary Ann Magnin who joined the family business at the turn of the century. Punch cancelled. Not endorsed on the reverse. I. Magnin & Co. was a luxury specialty department store founded in 1876 in San Francisco by Mary Ann Magnin, known for its high-end fashion, imported European goods, and meticulous personal service. Over the 20th century, it expanded into an elite West Coast retail chain, becoming especially famous for its elegant white-marble flagship on Union Square. The company was acquired by Federated Department Stores in the 1960s and eventually closed in the early 1990s as Federated consolidated its upscale retail brands.
