This poster is a true rarity among Kurosawa collectors. There is little evidence of the poster being sold at all in recent years.

This remarkable Japanese poster, previously folded, will be dispatched in a rolled format. The sole issue is a minor piece of archival tape on the reverse side, situated behind the top central fold.

This significant Japanese film, directed by the renowned Akira Kurosawa, features Toshiro Mifune in a compelling role as an elderly foundry owner who is desperate to convince his family to relocate to South America to avoid nuclear annihilation. Filmed just ten years after the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the movie captures the pervasive and intense fear of atomic death among the Japanese people-a sentiment that may have been too complex for audiences in 1955 to fully comprehend. Consequently, the film wasn't released in the U.S. until 1967, following Kurosawa's successful films such as The Throne of Blood, Yojimbo, and Sanjuro.
