Admiral (1900–1986) who oversaw the creation of America’s fleet of nuclear-powered naval vessels. TLS signed “H. G. Rickover,” one page, 6.5 x 9.75, USS Bremerton letterhead, December 2, 1980. Rickover sends an informational letter to Congressman Bob Wilson. In part, “The Bremerton is one of our latest of nuclear attack submarines, capable of attaining speeds higher than any achieved by earlier classes of U. S. submarines…This class is also capable of operating in direct support of our aircraft carriers and other major surface combats in an escort role…In addition to 77 attack type submarines, we also have 38 Polaris and Poseidon ballistic missile firing submarines, making a total of 115 nuclear submarines in operation.” In very fine condition, with a small spot to top left.
