Four volume set of <I>The Justice of the Peace and Parish Officer</I> by Richard Burn, London, 1766, each volume signed &#34;<I>Sam Huntingtons Book</I>&#34; on the first end page; some toning and staining to signature page. Below Samuel Huntingtons name is &#34;Colbert Huntingtons Book.&#34; A wonderful set of British law books concerning slaves, conspiracy, goal &#40;jail&#41; and goalers, duties of a sheriff, etc. Original leather binding with gold-stamped titles. A rare set with supreme history and provenance.<BR><BR>Rising from a limited formal education, Huntington began studying law at 22 years of age and became a member of the Connecticut Assembly. He was a member of the Continental Congress from 1776 to 1783 and signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
