<B>Rare Eleazar Huntington Declaration of Independence Broadside,</B></I> one page, 19" x 23.5", Hartford, Connecticut, circa 1820s, signed "<I>Engraved by E. Huntington</B></I>" in small print along the lower margin. The text of this "Declaration of Independence" follows the original as far as content, however it is recreated using early 19th century type. Huntington, the engraver, was also a master calligrapher and intentionally retained the "feel" of the original Declaration while incorporating new styles of presentation. The famous signatures are faithfully reproduced without embellishment. This broadside was given a board backing in the 19th century. Deep brown toning throughout with water stains on the upper half. Folds, splits and minor areas of loss to edges. Good condition.
