1 - No. 428 - Duck Hunters at the Landing: After a morning?s sport on marshes, one of the most pleasant features of the hunt is frequently found in these little impromptu meetings of hunters as they beach their boats. Here the morning?s shoot will be discussed, the flyways of the birds noted and the game compared. It will be noted that two of these boats have a cargo composed chiefly of decoys, indicating that their owners had secured a poor location and had, as a consequence, poor shooting. A peculiarity of this sort of hunting will be noted in the long push paddles which are necessary in these weedy, mud bottom, shallow waters, it being frequently impossible to either use oars or ordinary paddle to advantage. There is no keener pleasure for the average sportsman than that to be found in a morning among the ducks.
