Hunter S. Thompson postcard signed HST in type
Hunter S. Thompson postcard signed HST in type and with a handwritten money sign sign next to his circled initials. Thompson writes to his friend George Logan in Louisville with a handwritten note urging his friend to ''Protect Your Credit!!!'' and with thoughts on Kennedy, Nixon and the John Birch Society. Composed on a Manor House, Big Sur postcard, Thompson writes on 8 May 1961, shortly after the Bag of Pigs invasion. In part, ''Some lunatic merchant...has threatened me with legal action, claiming I owe...some $24.53. I believe you had something to do with this, and sent them a letter that should curl their hairs. [crossed out note] / I have, by the way, joined the John Birch Society & urge you to do so in the near future. All the best people are in it & I think we are going places. It appears that Mr. Kennedy has at least a few false teeth & I am beginning to think we might be better off with Nixon. At least he would have done the job in a hurry. Ah well......HST''. Postcard measures 5.5'' x 3.25'', postmarked on 10 May 1961 from Big Sur. Near fine condition.
