Hungarian Karballa with fancy scabbard, approx. 37” overall with a 31” curved damascene blade in overall very good condition showing the majority of metal pattern on the blade, wire wrapped neck of a carved hardwood grip, possibly ebony, that is adorned with 3 brass ornamental rounds on each side and outlined with a hammered piece of brass trim. The wood scabbard is covered with a base of green material that shows wear and some losses where exposed but is principally covered by large brass hand hammered and intricately engraved and multi-colored stone be-jeweled additions including an approx. 9” throat with hanger rings, an approx. 9-1/2” drag, a beautifully-accomplished 2-1/2” be-jeweled stone oval, also with hanger rings with similar designed piece below it and two separate serpent bands, one on each side of the ovals respectively between the oval and the throat piece or drag; importantly, both sides of the all scabbard decorations are be-jeweled and engraved and there are no stones missing. A very impressive old Hungarian piece. Est.: $1,000-$2,000.
