Humphrey Bogart and Mayo Methot Bogart Signed Short Snorter. During World War II soldiers and sailors often autographed low denomination notes as mementos for their comrades. These bills - called "short snorters" - were occasionally imitated by touring celebrities. This lot is such an item and consists of an Italian 100-lire Allied Occupation note bearing the signatures of Bogart and his feisty third wife, Mayo Methot. Two years later Mayo would be displaced by the immortal Lauren Bacall. Here Mrs. Bogart signs in pencil whereas her husband's signature is penned. Old central fold, some loss to verso from mounting. A scare relic from a tumultuous period in Bogart's life. Very good condition.
