Humayun launched campaign against Afghans in Bengal and surrounding region. He captured Chunar and subsequently occupied Lakhnauti spending around nine months in Bengal. During this time, he struck silver coins of two different standards namely the older Tanka standard and the newer rupee standard both with the inscription ‘Adl Bangalah to suggest they were struck on the standard current in Bengal. The tankas struck in this short while are much rarer than the rupees standard coins struck by Humayun. Here, we offer a Tanka standard coin of Humayun.
