Austrian writer (1874–1929) who wrote novels, operas, poems, and essays. ALS signed “Hugo v. Hofmannsthal,” one page both sides, 8.25 x 5.25, Bad Aussee, Austria, October 16, 1925. Letter to “Dear Miss Jeffreys.” Translated in full “But how should I send a car to Mrs. Eduard Reichmann? I do not know her personally, nor do I know her address. Everything will reach me here until November 20th, and my regular address at any time is Rodan bei Wien, Austria.” In fine condition, with a central vertical fold. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Hofmannsthal’s hand.
