<B>Huge Eisenhower Letter Archive</B></I> From the collection of Jack Rosenbaum, PFC, 11th U.S. Engineers, who served in France in World War I. Includes: 24 TLsS: "<I>Dwight D. Eisenhower</B></I>", 1947-1952, one TLS: "<I>Eisenhower</B></I>" (1949), one TLS: "<I>D.E.</B></I>" as President (1954), one TLS: "<I>Dwight D. Eisenhower</B></I>" as President (1956). All with original envelopes. The October 25,1948 TLS from Columbia University was signed by Autopen. All to Jack Rosenbaum, first c/o Archer Fruit Company, Miami Beach, then at Jack's Tackle Shop, Miami. The December 30, 1947, letter ends with: "Mrs. Eisenhower was delighted within the handsome penknife and enjoyed your card. She asked me to thank you and to allay superstition with the inclosed [sic] penny." The 1944-penny is present! In a 1948 letter, as Eisenhower is "deeply engrossed in personal affairs preparatory to moving to Columbia University", he adds a lengthy handwritten postscript: "<I>P.S. Your continued kindness to me keeps constantly going deeper in debt to you. I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness.</B></I>" The letters are mostly holiday greetings and thank yous for gifts such as "spare parts for my Supreme Reel", fruits, books on fishing, fly box, fishing cap, fishing knife, golf caps, and pecans. There is also a Christmas card sent from SHAPE in Paris signed: "<I>Dwight D. Eisenhower</B></I>". The collection includes five TLsS: "<I>Mamie Doud Eisenhower</B></I>" as First Lady, thanking Rosenbaum for Christmas gifts, each with original White House envelope. Also: three unsigned White House Christmas cards, 1952 Christmas card bearing engraved greeting in Mrs. Eisenhower's handwriting, two 1952 TLsS signed for Eisenhower by a secretary, two telegrams from President Eisenhower, five printed White House message cards, TLS from daughter-in-law Barbara Eisenhower. Also present is a worn, soiled 8.5" x 8.25" citation presenting the "Medaille de Saint-Mihiel" to Rosenbaum, signed in type by G. Clemenceau and John J. Pershing and in ink by the Mayor of Saint-Mihiel, a partially browned 7.75" x 9.75" citation memorializing Rosenbaum, honoring his military service, bearing a facsimile signature of President Lyndon B. Johnson (dated 1964 in unknown hand). Also, 11 TLsS of Eisenhower aides (1947-1953), facsimile of King George V's handwritten 1918 message to U.S. soldiers, a document relating to Rosenbaum's service with the 11th U.S. Engineers in World War I. Included in this collection is the original manuscript, handwritten in pencil on 124 separate lined loose-leaf pages (on one side only) of a novel, titled and signed on the first page: "<I>'Go West-by North'...Jack Rosenbaum '39</B></I>" and a 184 page corrected typescript (one side only) of a novel "Woe to the Jew" with 12 handwritten pages and a typed forward signed by Rosenbaum in December 1939. Sixty-one items (plus envelopes).
