Bernard the Dog costume from Captain Kangaroo, and large framed photo of it worn on set with the Captain and Carol Channing. Finely handcrafted costume includes a giant mascot-style plush head and one-piece body suit. A wardrobe department tag identifies the wearer as Hugh Holt. Accompanied by a black and white photograph of the canine character posing alongside the Captain and Tony award-winning actress Carol Channing, who guest starred on the show's 14 September 1979 episode. Furry black and white body suit zips up the front and features a sewn-on tail and built-in feet. Both head and body are crafted with discreet mesh ventilation sections. A single furry mitten is included. Bernard head measures approximately 20'' across, 17'' in height and 17'' deep. Body measures approximately 62'' in height and 24'' across the chest with a 23'' inseam. Matting and light soiling to faux-fur suit, with disintegration of foam lining to the head, else near fine. Photo is framed in chrome to an overall size of 17.25'' x 13.25''. Image has not been removed from frame for inspection but appears near fine.
