Hudson Bay Red White Heart Bead Necklace 17th-18th
Included in this lot we have this very rare and fine set of large Hudson Bay White Heart “Cornaline d'Aleppo” exotic trade beads dating to the 16th-17th Century. These 1600-1800’s beads are regularly referred to as “white hearts” due to the opaque white core at the “heart” or center of each bead that is finished with a red semi-translucent outer shell (showing the white partially through). This outstanding strand shows a unusually large size with very rare shiny semi-transparent outer shell. These authentic early trade beads display very well and have been appraised at a value of over $1,200. Provenance: From the collection of Dr. David and Marsha Bowerly of Oregon. The piece comes with an original museum collection tag stating, "6198 Med New White Heart" and "Bead Castle 49". The strand measures approximately 30" long with each bead is approximately 1/4" long by 3/8" diameter.
