The lot features an increasingly rare authentic original Hubley Auto (Automobile) Fire Engine Pumper cast iron engine dating to circa 1920. The 1920’s piece is manufacture from cast iron and features the original paint and finish. The fire engine comes with the original cast iron driver and two red hoses. The fire pumper shows incredible fine detail and overall is in good condition for its early age. It is very rare to find an authentic example of this particular fire pumper engine, let along in its original un-altered paint and finish. The Hubley Manufacturing Company was first incorporated in 1894 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania by John Hubley. The first Hubley toys appeared in 1909, with this example being one of the earlier examples from the company. Two engines of similar design have sold in recent time with one being sold at Bertoia Auctions 3/27/2015 sale for $3,451.25 and this exact toy in the North American Auction Company 7/8/2017 sale for $1,200 (both shown with premiums). This is the fire pumper from Hubley of its kind known to be offered at public auction. The frame on the right side shows two cracks that have been repaired (as shown in the pictures). Measures 11.5" L x 8" T x 4" W.
