Unique 19th century cast iron bench with gold finish appears as bronze made by the W.H.Howell Co. in Geneva,Illinois. Specializing in sad irons,the invention of the electric iron casused Mr. Howell to produce iron benches which were reproductions of 16th,17th century European hand carved wood ones at a lesser price according to his catalog. The name of the company,location and "930 Patent applied For" appears on the inside of each leg and originally set inside the seat by the leg impression on the underside of the aged wood bottom. The seat top is well padded and comfortable presently covered in a deep red imitation alligator which can be updated easily. Bits of the original covering peak out below.A handsome,masculine accent for any room. Excellent condition. Measures 18L X 24H X 12W.
