Film director (1896-1977) who made such classics as Scarface, Bringing Up Baby, Sergeant York, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. World War II-dated DS, two pages, 8.5 x 11, June 17, 1941. Contract between Samuel Goldwyn Inc. and Howard Hawks, which amends the length of a previous contract from 12 weeks to 20 weeks "in connection with the production of said photoplay." Signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by Hawks, and countersigned by Reeves Espy. In fine condition. The photoplay in question is likely the screwball comedy Ball of Fire, which starred Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck and was released on December 2, 1941.
