A collection of original “Whoville” trash props used as set dressing in the Mt. Crumpit dump (landfill) and within the Grinch’s cave from How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Universal Pictures, 2000).
This unique set features an assortment of custom-printed Whoville newspaper fragments, each showcasing the film’s signature Seussian wordplay with headlines like “Main Street Who’s Show More Smiles” and “Christmas Spirit in Good Supply.” Accompanying the papers are a plaid fabric ribbon and a piece of faux lettuce, all of which were hand-weathered by the production’s art department to create the perfectly imperfect world of Whoville’s discarded holiday cheer.
The trash items were part of the massive Mt. Crumpit set, the cluttered, chaotic dump at the heart of the Grinch’s lair, where every prop, down to a torn scrap of paper, was deliberately designed to bring Ron Howard’s vision of Dr. Seuss’s world to life. Together, these whimsical relics represent the meticulous, Oscar®-winning production design that defined the film’s magical aesthetic.
A fantastic conversation piece from one of the most visually inventive Christmas films ever made.
