A quirky and colorful collection of “Whoville Trash” props created for use in the Mt. Crumpit dump and the Grinch’s cave in Ron Howard’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), starring Jim Carrey.
This fun production-made set includes a plastic vent cover (measuring approximately 7.75" x 5.5") and a selection of Whoville refuse, such as fabricated faux vegetables and fruit, each carefully designed to fit the exaggerated, whimsical aesthetic of Whoville. These distinctive pieces were used to dress the landfill and the Grinch’s cluttered lair, helping bring to life the film’s imaginative world where even garbage had a Seussian flair.
Constructed by the film’s talented art department, these hand-painted props were part of the extensive set decoration that gave How the Grinch Stole Christmas its signature, over-the-top style. Rarely do such behind-the-scenes artifacts from this Oscar-winning production survive intact, making this a delightfully unique piece of cinematic history.
