This whimsical “Take a Penny, Leave a Penny” tray was custom-made for use by various Whoville residents and as set dressing during the production of How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Universal, 2000), directed by Ron Howard and starring Jim Carrey.
The bright mustard-yellow ceramic tray features the curved, exaggerated design language that defines the world of Whoville, a hallmark of production designer Michael Corenblith’s Oscar-winning art direction. Measuring approximately 9.5” x 7.25” x 1.25”, the tray was placed within the bustling set of Whoville shops, banks, and counters to add layers of authenticity and quirky charm to the town’s festive environment.
A fun and instantly recognizable piece of Whoville’s world, this prop embodies the playful, handcrafted spirit that made How the Grinch Stole Christmas a beloved holiday classic. A perfect collectible for fans of Seuss-inspired design and Christmas movie magic.
