A pair of green gingham pants created by the costume department during the preproduction of How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) as part of the costume design development for the residents of Whoville.
Made from lightweight cotton fabric in a festive green-and-white checkered pattern, these pants feature a classic elastic waistband and relaxed cut, characteristic of the playful, storybook aesthetic that defines the Whoville wardrobe. This piece was produced during the design experimentation phase, where the costume team tested fabrics, colors, and silhouettes to establish the signature Seussian style that would come to life on screen.
Under the direction of costume designer Rita Ryack, the wardrobe team created a vast array of unique outfits for Whoville’s citizens, blending traditional holiday motifs with the whimsical charm of Dr. Seuss’s original illustrations. These early production garments represent the artistry and creative exploration behind one of cinema’s most visually enchanting holiday worlds.

The item(s) may exhibit varying levels of wear and studio distressing, as detailed in the listing images that provide an accurate representation of the condition. All inner wardrobe tags have been photographed to offer insight into size and use. If tags are absent from the photographs, it indicates that they were removed by the studio, and no size information is available.
