An incredibly rare and fascinating piece of How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) pre-production history, this “Who-Davidson” biker vest prototype was created by the film’s costume department during early design development for Ron Howard’s holiday classic.
Made of black faux leather, the vest features pearlized stud detailing across the chest and shoulders and a striking silver “W” emblem with stylized wings on the back, representing Whoville or possibly a fictional “Who-Davidson” motorcycle club. The sides are fitted with lace-up adjustments, giving it a rugged yet whimsical look consistent with the film’s quirky tone.
This vest is believed to have been developed during early stages of the film when the script included scenes depicting the Grinch as a leather-clad biker, a concept ultimately scrapped during revisions. Notably, a full “Who-Davidson” motorcycle was constructed for these deleted sequences but never appeared in the final cut.
Designed under the supervision of Academy Award–nominated costume designer Rita Ryack, this piece offers a rare glimpse into a creative direction that was never realized on screen, making it an exciting artifact from the world-building process behind one of the most visually inventive holiday films ever made.

The item(s) may exhibit varying levels of wear and studio distressing, as detailed in the listing images that provide an accurate representation of the condition. All inner wardrobe tags have been photographed to offer insight into size and use. If tags are absent from the photographs, it indicates that they were removed by the studio, and no size information is available.
