A wonderfully whimsical Whoville-style wheelbarrow used in Ron Howard’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Universal, 2000), starring Jim Carrey. This colorful prop was featured during the memorable post-destruction cleanup scene, when Whoville city workers gather the charred remains of the Christmas tree burned by the mischievous Grinch.
Measuring an impressive 67” x 27” x 30”, this prop wheelbarrow captures the unmistakable Seussian aesthetic with its curved, asymmetrical design, scrollwork metal accents, and playful color palette of deep red, green, and cream. The twisted handle grips and exaggerated contours embody the handcrafted, cartoon-like charm that defined the look of Whoville throughout the production.
Constructed of metal and wood, this piece was customized and painted by the production’s art department for on-screen use and as set dressing throughout the Whoville town square sequences. It’s a perfect example of the extraordinary attention to detail that helped bring Dr. Seuss’s world to life in live action.
An instantly recognizable and display-worthy artifact from the world of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, this large Whoville wheelbarrow is a true piece of Seussian cinematic history, bursting with the playful personality of Whoville itself.
