This this vibrant Greater Whoville Telephone Directory cover was custom-printed for use in Ron Howard’s beloved holiday classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). Produced as a backup cover to the screen-used directory handled by the Grinch himself, this piece is an exceptional example of the film’s richly imaginative production design.
Following filming, the production-made Whoville directory cover, complete with bold cartoonish typography, whimsical scrollwork, and the town’s signature rotary phone emblem, was professionally mounted onto a real phone book for long-term display. To enhance authenticity, the first four interior pages were recreated directly from the screen-used book, featuring Whoville residents, businesses, and playful in-universe ads such as Farfingles Department Store and Whooperman’s Bakery.
Measuring approximately 10.75" x 8.5" x 1.25", this delightfully oversized prop captures the charming visual language of Dr. Seuss brought to life. An instantly recognizable piece from one of the most iconic sequences in the film, when the Grinch searches for “Who” to torment, this display-ready directory is a perfect addition to any Grinch, Seuss, or holiday movie memorabilia collection.
A wonderfully whimsical artifact of Whoville, preserved with care and ready for its next festive home.
