A whimsical Whoville Post Office prop gift and envelope set created for use as set dressing in Ron Howard’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). Bursting with the film’s signature Seussian charm, this colorful pair captures the handcrafted, over-the-top aesthetic that defines Whoville’s festive world.
The wrapped gift, measuring approximately 12.5" long and 2" in diameter, is finished in metallic gold patterned foil and tied at both ends with red pipe-cleaner-style trim. It features a carved-out slot designed to hold the accompanying mint-green envelope, making it appear as if the letter is emerging from the package. The envelope, measuring 6” x 6”, is addressed to Ms. C.A. Whominera, 222 N. Whoville Road, Whoville, WV 19, and features a whimsical “Whoville Postal Service” stamp and postmark design, perfectly in line with the film’s playful production design.
This charming piece was part of the intricate background detailing seen throughout Whoville’s bustling postal scene, where mountains of holiday mail and gifts fill every corner of the Grinch’s world.
A delightful, screen-used artifact that embodies the spirit, humor, and handcrafted artistry of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
