A wonderfully quirky piece of Whoville magic, this production-used string of Christmas lights was acquired and customized and by the art department for use on the vibrant sets of How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). Spanning an impressive approximately 65 feet, this vintage-style strand features multicolored bulbs in classic Dr. Seuss fashion, echoing the spirited aesthetic of Ron Howard’s beloved holiday film.
What truly sets this piece apart is the hand-made Dr. Seuss–inspired resin plug cover, designed to replace a standard plug with something unmistakably “Who.” The sculpted, ribbed form captures the whimsical, handcrafted look seen throughout Whoville’s props and architecture. While a few bulbs are missing, expected from a heavily dressed, production-used light string, it does little to diminish its visual charm or display impact.
To our knowledge, this is the only authentic Whoville string light prop ever to surface on the market, making it an exceptional and potentially one-of-a-kind opportunity for collectors of holiday cinema, Dr. Seuss adaptations, or screen-used props. A colorful, nostalgic relic from one of the most iconic Christmas films of all time.
