<B>Houston, TX- Republic of Texas First Issue</B></I> $5 ???, 1837 Cr. H1, Medlar 27, Olson 440<BR> A scarce and popular "Star" issue that was issued in Houston in late 1837 and early 1838. All examples from this series are under constant heavy demand from collectors. This $5 grades <B>About Good</B></I>, as it is split and tape repaired down the center, and there was a cut-out cancellation at left, along with the missing upper right section. Two auditor's stamp cancellations are also present at right.
