Soon after my grandfather, George E Kennedy, built his Navajo trading post at Salina Springs, a large family called the Left Hands sent word that they were coming to kill him. The family was reputed to be aggressive and mean. Kennedy had no where to go, so he sent word back that he would be ready for them whenver they wanted to come. They never came and instead became loyal customers that continued to deal with him at his later posts at Canyon de Chelly and Rock Springs. In 1951, a movie company was in Galup and in need of a traditional Navajo man. Dad took them to see the Left Hands and they signed Left Hand Many Goats. The company was so taken by him that they commissioned the photo protrait.
