House of Horrors (Universal, 1946). Insert (14" X 36"). Rondo Hatton reprises his role of the Creeper from the Sherlock Holmes film, "The Pearl of Death." A starving artist, whose work has been savaged by an influential art critic, is about to commit suicide by jumping in a river, when he finds Hatton's half-alive body floating in the water. The artist saves Hatton and, in gratitude, the Creeper goes after the critic! Universal hailed Hatton as "the human monster who didn't need makeup," an unfortunate campaign based on his acromegaly, a deforming bone disease. This insert has very light edge wear and tears, a small stain and a bit of soiling in the upper border, writing in ink in a corner, and a few tiny scuffs. None of these defects has a large effect on the appearance of the poster. Very Fine.
