Hot Springs, AR- Hot Springs Railroad Bank $2 1884 Rothert 306-4
A spectacular note which ranks as one of our favorite Obsoletes that we have ever had to offer. It comes from an excessively rare issuer which we have never seen previously, with the piece illustrated in the Rothert Arkansas reference an example with holes and obvious small pieces missing. This specimen combines grade with rarity, as it is a barely circulated piece with wonderful color and eye appeal. The reverse, printed in green, is particularly worthy of mention, as it is a near perfect lookalike of a contemporary $2 Legal Tender Note. This piece is signed by "Diamond Joe" Reynolds, who built and owned this railroad, and who publicized the cures offered by the natural hot springs that gave this town its name. Bright Very Fine-Extremely Fine, a significant example in all respects.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
