Hostel Dangling Eye And Puss Prop
All cult classic gore-fest horror films have their major shock scene that everyone talks about forever. No matter how much slash-and-gash there is, one scene always stands out, forever burned into our brains and makes the film horror history. In "Hostel" (2005), the nightmare of backpackers who find nothing but hell on Earth in a Slovak city, that scene has to be when Kana (Jennifer Lim), who is getting her face burned off with a blow torch, is "saved" by Paxton (Jay Hernandez). Unfortunately damage has been done, and the flesh around her left eye, and the lid itself have been burned off, causing her eye to hang freely from her optic nerve. As she screams in horror, shaking her head, and causing the loose eye to swing back and forth, Paxton must calm the hysterical Kana, and then with scissors, cuts the cord to free the dangling eye from her face. A moment later, a waterfall of puss flows from the socket. You don't forget a scene like that! This horrifically realistic sequence was made even more gruesome by the craftsmanship of legendary Special Effects Artist Andrea Le Vine, who made both the eye, the optic nerve, and even the special puss. This is a true one-of-kind collectable. The actual hero screen used eye and cord (made of foam latex), and even the rest of the specially made puss used in this classic scene. They come from Andrea Le Vine's personal collection and include a Letter of Provenience from Le Vine. Talk about having the ultimate display piece!
