Hospitals in the Civil War. Group of three items: 1) Voucher to Chaplain John A. Wright, having been "on duty at Marine & West End Hospital...every day" from June 30 to July 31, 1864. Partly printed, 10 -3/4 x 1 7, signed twice by Chaplain, enumerating allowances for rations, forage, clothing, and pay. Choice condition. 2) A.L.S. from "William" at U.S.A. Hospital, Beres(?), N.J., on letterhead of U.S. Christian Commission, forerunner of Red Cross, Oct. 30, 1864, 3 pp. Awaiting orders to go home "for 20 or 30 days." Very good. 3) Letter to Maj. Kennedy, signer on Chaplain's voucher, regarding a check received, Mar. 2, 1865. Very fine.
