Very unique Green on Pink 6% mortgage bond. Very early number 15. Signed by president Robert Sewell and secretary (?). Four coupons are remaining - one attached by pin. Underground mining vignette. Two tiny holes at fold intersections. No edge, corner or discoloration issues. Very Nice. The Hortense mine was discovered in 1872. No serious mining was done until 1877 when it was leased out. Later that year the mine was sold to a New York group and renamed the Hortense Mining Company. They erected nice houses for the superintendent and manager. By 1881 a large amount of development work had been done, but little ore had been processed.
