Little is remembered about the star of this short, Monty Banks, but would you believe that he was awarded a special Oscar in 1937 as " a discoverer of stars and his special contribution to the comedy technique of the screen." Banks was one of the founders of Keystone Production Company in 1912 which had Mabel Normand, Fatty Arbuckle and Charlie Chaplin in its roster within the first years. In 1915 Banks with D.W. Griffith and Thomas Ince formed Triangle Films, where he began stars like Gloria Swanson and Bobby Vernon. In 1917 be began Mack Sennett Comedies and later Pathe' through which this short was released. He directed and produced and his accomplishments read like a who's who of early Hollywood. By the way, this short was directed by Clyde Bruckman who is best remembered as Buster Keaton's gagman. Very Fine+/Rolled. <B>Estimate: $200-400</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
