Lot of 4 pieces. A matching set of hand braided rawhide pieces, consisting of the rawhide-core bosal or nosepiece on a leather hanger, in tan and brown colors, the mecate reins with attachable lead rope, and matching set of hobbles. The bosal and mecate rein system derives from the Californio vaquero tradition wherein the nosepiece is adjusted to the horse’s muzzle and can be used with or without a bit. The romel reins attach to the base of the bosal along with the extra lead rope which is wrapped around the saddle horn when the rider is mounted. All the pieces in this set are constructed of chocolate colored braiding accented with tan rawhide barrels, balls and rings, interspersed with sterling silver ferrules. The tan accent pieces have red zigzag lines of decoration woven in. The poppers, or end leather pieces on the reins, are handmade. -59263
