<Our item number 99183><B>Horatio Nelson British Historical Bronze Medal.</B> Rare, original Bristish historical medal, designed by Thomas Webb &#40;signed &#34;W&#34; on the bust portrait in script&#41; and struck in London in 1805 to commemorate the death of Lord Nelson at Trafalgaer. Approximately 2 1/8&#34; in diameter. Extra fine. The front features a bare-head image of Nelson, facing left, and the words, &#34;Hor Vicecom Nelson Ob Patriam Pugnando Mort Oct. XXI MDCCCV&#34; [Lord Nelson Died Fighting for his Country Oct. 21, 1805&#41;. The reverse features a beautiful image of a winged goddess walking on the sea while a sailing ship is buffeted by waves in the background, and at the top, &#34;Ipse Belli Fulmen&#34; [He himself a thunderbolt of war]. We do not know the numerical designation assigned to this medal.
