Handwritten manuscript by Horace Greeley, unsigned, one page, 7.75 x 12.5, no date but circa November 1862. An editorial headed, "My Vote for Wadsworth," regarding the 1862 New York gubernatorial election between James S. Wadsworth and Horatio Seymour. In part: "Whoever votes on Tuesday the ticket headed James S. Wadsworth for Governor will vote to maintain the integrity of the Union…He will vote to uphold the National authority and flag…He who votes for Wadsworth…votes to gladden every loyal American in Europe or on the Pacific coast…If you vote for Seymour, you vote that the Union shall surrender…Patriots! Vote only for men who in the darkest hour stood fairly by their betrayed and bleeding country!" A note at the conclusion by A. B. Crandall of the Tribune Office reads: "There is not the slightest doubt that this is the writing of Mr. Greeley." In very good to fine condition, with light creasing and staining, and old mounting remnants on the reverse.
