For your bidding pleasure is a Hopi Native American Indian micro inlay Crow Kachina dancer. This is an extremely extravagant and detailed Kachina dancer. The Crow Mother is considered by many Hopi to also be the mother of all kachinas. She appears during the Powamu or Bean Dance on all three Mesas. During the Powamu, she supervises the initiation of the children into the Kachina Cult and carries the yucca whips with which they are struck by the Hu Kachinas. Later in the same ceremony, she leads other kachinas into the village bearing in her arms a basket of corn kernels and bean sprouts to symbolically start the new growing season properly. This dancer features a highly stylized headdress. White, blue, green and pink fire opals make up feathers along with finely inlaid turquoise, sugalite, malachite, onyx, branch coral, lapis lazuli and spiny oyster gemstones. The face features lapis lazuli eyes and white fire opal. The beak is constructed of sterling silver and blue fire opal. The Kachina dancer is constructed from sterling silver and shows appropriate anatomy. The dancer inlaid sterling bracelets and boots as well. The dancers dress and robe and completely removeable with clasps. He also has two dance sticks with additional mosaic inlay. The back of the robe features a fantastic mosaic inlay featuring stunning blue, pink, purple, white and green fire opal as well as mother of pearl and the same gemstones as on the headdress. The sterling silver base showcases the artists hallmark, a cow skull over “RT” and sterling. It is also titled “Crow Dancer.”
