This is a rare early polychrome painted cottonwood kachina hand carved from the Hopi Native American Indians and dating to circa early 1900. The piece shows a flat design with wide winged pattern at the ears and overall shows a pigment mineral polychrome painted red, black, white, green and yellow. The figure shows a two-strand necklace with seven blossom beads. The top of the curved face flat back kachina shows a feather. The piece is in very good well-preserved condition with a repaired wing. Measures overall 9”x8”x3”. Provenance: From a 90-year collection out of Central Arizona in the Coconino National Forest.
